Our aim as an educational establishment is to groom our students to become principled & well rounded individuals. Our duty is to instill positive values that should become an inherent part of their personalities. At Links, we believe that “character building” is just as important a part of our mission as fulfilling any academic requirements.
A strong understanding & reinforcement of the following values will contribute greatly towards maintaining discipline and making our students responsible adults. All these factors will help in preparing our children to become successful citizens & community leaders of tomorrow.
- Respecting our elders & peers
- Respecting & Obeying rules
- Respecting deadlines
If you are in agreement with the above, then it is of the utmost importance that you understand why school rules & policies must be respected and strictly adhered to.
Parents must also support their child’s school by reinforcing these rules and realizing that these systems are in place to benefit our students, shape their future and make us a strong community.
It is also clear, that success at school to reinforce these values cannot be achieved without full cooperation from home (where the child spends a majority of his/her time on any given day).
Lastly, we also stress that parents must coordinate and communicate amongst each other to monitor and guide their children after school hours. Social activities, issues & concerns that occur outside the school premises must be dealt with independently without involving the school management.
Most of these following policies are already stated in our Parent handbook. All our school policies & rules are non-negotiable and any breach or disrespect will not be tolerated at the Secondary level.
We ask you to kindly review & reinforce the following with your children :-
LINKS DISCIPLINE POLICY 2010 (class 6 onwards)

Please note:-
- The decision of the management will be final and non-negotiable.
- If a student receives 3 suspensions in one academic year, this will result in automatic expulsion.
Electronics / Mobile Phones:
- Any mobiles or electronic items brought to school will be confiscated.
- These items will only be returned to parents at the end of term.
- In exceptional circumstances , if a student carries a mobile phone to school , they must ensure that it is switched off & deposited with the class teacher before morning assembly. In such exceptional circumstances the device may be claimed at home time.
Harassment & Bulling Policy
As a school we take bullying very seriously. As a community we address the issue in assemblies and talk positively about how each member of the school should be respected and should show respect for others. At the early stages of bullying, the class teacher talks to those concerned and monitors behaviour. However, where the issues persist, we are keen to act quickly, involve parents and ensure unacceptable behaviour is discontinued. A copy of the complete procedure is available with the coordinator / Headteacher.
Links & Its Duty of Care as an Educational Establishment Serving the Community
DEFINITION: A duty of care is a legal term associated with both the physical safety and social, moral and intellectual welfare of the children who attend the school. The school’s duty of care extends to the behaviour and actions of its teachers, assistants, non teaching staff, contractors and volunteers.
The staff at Links understands that when children are at school, they have a duty of care. They recognize that the children being outside the immediate control of their family, are largely their responsibility. The staff recognizes that they must, within reason, provide complete protection.
PARENTAL AND GUARDIAN EXPECTATIONS
Links recognizes that in any human interaction, especially in a school, there is potential risk for both students and staff. However, it is acknowledged that the child is more vulnerable because of their age and because of the position of influence the staff has. Ultimately, any institution has to rely upon creating an environment of trust, as well as taking reasonable measures to provide some assurance.
It is reasonable for parents to expect the school and its staff to care and to protect their children from harm. As students advance into adolescence and are more mature, the level of care needed will be lessened, and neither parents nor school staff can supervise a school-aged child every moment of the day, especially during their teenage years. However, parents can rest assured that school policies and rules designed to provide care for their children are clearly understood and followed both by staff and students.
DUTY OF CARE POLICIES
