Attendance

AttendanceNot surprisingly, research shows that regular attendance is correlated with school achievement.

The following are considered excused absences from school (all others are unexcused)

  • Illness, quarantine, doctor or dentist appointment.
  • Severe family emergency.
  • Others approved in advance by the Head Teacher / Administration.

Punctuality

It is important that the children begin their lessons on time and we encourage the habit of punctuality. Please make sure your child is in school 10 minutes before time in the morning.

Late Arrivals in the Morning (Upper Primary & Secondary School)

  • The school bell rings daily at 7:55 a.m. Any student who arrives between 7:55 – 8:05 a.m will be marked late and allowed to enter the school up to a maximum of 3 times in any 1 month.
  • A student who is marked late a 4th time in any given month will be sent home.
  • The school gate will close at 8:05 am. Any student who arrives after 8:05 a.m will be sent home regardless.

Late Collection in the Afternoon

Children get very upset if they are not collected on time. If you are unavoidably late, please call the school so your child can be reassured and supervised.

Leaving School Early

If you wish to collect your child early please inform your child’s teacher in advance or call the school office. Please intercom the office from the gate when you arrive to collect your child.

Emergency School Closure

In the event of an emergency school closure the following day, you will be informed by your child’s class teacher. It is therefore essential that you update the school with changes in contact numbers. Any government declared closure at late notice will have to be observed as per the Sindh education department rules.

Holidays

Parents are requested to take their holidays during the normal school holidays rather than during the school term. Absence hinders progress at every level in the school; because so much of our learning is through active participation and hands on experiences, it is literally impossible for your child to 'make up' what they miss. If parents choose to take holidays during the term, they should inform the school in writing, at least one week prior to the holiday. Additional work will NOT be prepared by the class teacher to support the child during his/her absence.

Parents will be notified of the half term and public holidays at the beginning of each term. Parents are also advised to check the notice board (located in front of the main door) for any important announcements.

Special Circumstances / Parent Absences

When there are any special circumstances which might affect your child and family, e.g. absence of parents/guardians, family illness, loss of pet, a new baby, etc., a telephone call to the school or letter to the class teacher is very helpful and important.

Should you take a trip out of town, it is essential that you provide the school with the following information in writing before you go:

  1. Name of the person who will be responsible for your child's care. Please give the telephone numbers of the guardians.
  2. The address and telephone number of your destination, or how and when you may be reached. This is required for our use in any possible emergency.
